The amp is a Marshall AVT100 by the way, i want it fixed just so i can flog it to be honest.
EDIT: I know there about a hundred other "amp repair" threads, but none seem to ave the right answer i'm looking for. |
yep, best bet is to send it to marshall. the good news is, as pointed out by other forumites that the serial number will give the date of manufacturer indication, though not the date of sale.
the bad news is that marshall will take 4-6 weeks to turn it around. i had a dsl401 that went unserviceable on me, and was just about to pass/ had passed warrantee period - marshal did not quibble, they took my amp, upgraded the rectifier as well as repair it and changed all the tubes.... it cost me zip, but did take the fore mentioned 4 weeks.
for the record, the consumer protection act only covers you for 1 year. for tube amps it would be very difficult for a manufacturer to offer 3-5 years warrantee coverage, usually the tubes themselves only have 3 months coverage, and i've yet to own a tube amp that didn't need some attention over the course of 5 years - but i digress.
