Tom's are actually pretty cheap for string compared to most of the shops in town, if you're buying single packets.

I once got a phone call from my mate on his way to meet me at a gig and his words were:

"Dave, am I going to need my guitar...?"

He had to go back for it...

Then he broke down on the way back to the gig. With no breakdown cover.

Yeah, I was £1 for one string. It was a Rotosound. I dunno if they are any good, but it seemed to sound alright.
