aw well that's nice to know. :-)

I quit/left the aberdeen-music forums all those years ago just cos it turned into basically a bunch of people who didn't actually play any instrument, bitching about how bad they thought other people were. Got pretty annoying!

I think i'm going to stick to the confines of the Musician's Corner! Ha!

Blackmachine guitars look incredible- what model exactly do you have and how much did it set you back, if you don't mind me asking?

Oh Dan was gonna ask, as a cheaper way to get a very good (mic'd) guitar tone. Do you reckon it'd be worth buying a single (or two) Celestion V-30(s)? You can get them on their own for like £40/£50!!
Well the reason mesa's etc sound so much better is due to the quality of wood etc to build the cab. The resonance of woods differ, and therefore alter tone significantly. I think marshall cabs are made of plywood whereas mesas are a more expensive and dense wood - and therefore fucking heavy. You'd probably be better trying to stick a V30 in a cheaper cab than make your own from scratch to be honest... but I'm not a total expert on the subject.

I have the B2, which was £1600 - although that was 2 years ago - think they are £2k now as well as a two year waiting list!

Here's a photo of it in action:

The things I use most:
Guitars- Mexican Fender Stratocaster, S&P Cedar Folk (small bodied acoustic guitar).
Stomp Boxes- EHX Holy Grail, T Rex Mudhoney, DD-6, Behringer tuner pedal, Boss OD-3 (which is really boring, but probably my favourite).
Amp - Vox AD50VT (which has done me well, although will hopefully find itself replaced by all-tube goodness before the year/month is out).

Again, numerous other stuff: Westfield Jazz Bass, cheap Yamaha acoustic, Aria Pro II electric... my flat's too small though, so they all live with numerous other individuals.

Oh, I have an ELC tambourine beside my bed too.

yeah just been spending the last hour at work (not working) and reading about speaker cabinet construction. Think I've got my head round most of the calcs, although they're all freely available online anyway. I may just start a little project.

But yes I take your point that it is not just the driver that makes the cabinet good, but everything from construction materials to dimensions.

some interesting info here though for anyone who is interested.

...and that photo is awesome! :-)
