Default Djembe tutorials? - 08-04-2008, 21:59

Does anyone know where I could find any resources on learning how to play the Djembe?

I bought one the other week for when my band does acoustic stuff, and wouldn't mind learning a few techniques, rather than me just slapping the top of it.

Sticking "djembe tutorial" into google gave me 8 links before this one.

Although not proper technique try sticking your fist up it and moving it in and out (you may need to watch some porn to get it right). It gives you a degree of control over the bass note, fun but a nightmare to mic up. I've got a clay one (technically not a djembe but buggered if I know what the real name is) which is perfect for this but my wooden one isn't cos it's splinter city in there.

There is a teacher in Aberdeenshire, of whom my pal used to get lessons from... I can't quite remember where, Banchory possibly, but he is somewhere round 'ere.
