The original 57 beta mic (not the 57A) is great, by great I mean it's the best I've ever heard my voice. The only problem was that I kept getting shocked off the particular model, but i do like being right up into the mic, and it had a great shape for getting your mouth in close. You can do the same with a 57 but it pops way too easily.

I've never found a mic which could mic my guitar cab and make it sound how I actually hear it though....

A lot of people really like Sennheiser E609 for guitar cabinets.

any ideas for the best *all rounder* under say, 200 sheets?

i.e vocals + guitar cabs, possibly some drums.
