Default Marshall Amp Cutting Out - Advice

Hi,

I recently acquired a TSL100 Head and coupled it with a 1960 angled cab. It sounds great, but the last day or so, it has been cutting out on the Lead & Crunch channels, leaving me with just the Clean.

I'm assuming its a valve problem, but having owned only one other valve amp (a Laney 100W Klipp), I'm not too experienced with these beasties.

Anyone help?

DZL

It's happening with the footswitch IN. I haven't tried it without (or with the spare footswitch).

It IS switching to Clean once it cuts out and using the footswitch or panel buttons has no effect.

Thanks guys.

souds like there is a intermittent short in the footswitch. try unplugging it and see if the problem stops.

Will do.

I understand that the footswitches aren't very reliable anyway.

Thanks.

What exactly do you mean by 'cutting out'. Is there no sound as soon as you switch it to the overdrive channels? Or does it cut out after producting some sound?

Does this happen if you switch it manually with the buttons on the amp head?

I doubt it is a valve problem if it works perfectly on clean.

Hi,

OK - I explained it badly...

I'm on the Crunch or Lead channels and the thing switches over to the Clean channel (which I had turned down really low, hence the impression of cutting out) without pior warning.
