Default A couple of unusual stringed instruments




Would anyone be able to give me any information on what this instrument actually is? My parents bought it for me when they were on holiday in Morrocco (I think)...

Also, anyone know what this is?

I can understand how you are meant to play the second instrument there, but I have no idea how to play the first one.

The second one does look like a bazouki yeah, are they known as a yute or something as well?

The first one looks similar to a "Bolon" which is an instrument from Guinea. They sometimes come with a resonator.

I agree..the second looks like an oud (Pete McConville has one). The first looks like a Kora to me (saw Jali Nyama Suso playing something similar at the Arts Centre once, and I believe Toumane Diobante also plays one, although his spelling escapes me).
