My mate stripped his bass with a set of keys and some sandpaper he did a pretty good job aswell but I think it took him a month or two! I'm looking at getting the same done with my bass...let us know the cost!

How old is the bass G? If its a nitro finish thats on it, it should come off with a sander(wear a mask).

If its a modern poly finish.... then you should call that company. Careful though.... I've heard horror stories of boddies being split at the wood joins. The stuff that's required to get a poly finish off has to be damn strong!

Just get some piant stripper and do it yourself. Obviously remove the hardware before hand. Depending on the make you might find that the body has been sealed and then the colour applied before that is sealed.

Ever stripped a poly finish from a guitar? You'd be there for a long time!

i'm curious, are you planning on having it re-painted after its been stripped down?

or putting a finish (tung oil etc) to bring out the natural finish ?

It is a poly finish and I tried sanding it for about 9,000,000 years, nitro morse is the stuff but not nice to work with.
I phoned the two local companies who do acid dipping and neither are interested, so nitro morse it is....
