Default Home recording

Im looking to start recording & im looking for a good versatile & reasonably priced unit.
Ill mainly be recording acoustics.

Anyone have any advice, recommendations?

My advice (and remember...it hasn't worked for me!!) is..keep it cheap, and concentrate on the songs, rather than the 'sound' of the songs. There have been some great 'lo-fi' albums released, even recorded on telephone answering machines

ps...no offence to the Byre....it'a all great advice)
