Default How can you date a Fender Strat?

Just found a wee bargain in the Aberdeen Pawn Shop

Cream coloured Fender Strat - S/N = E837479

Any ideas how I can find out how old it is?

Cost £50 btw

Ta Mole,

Jap unfortunately.

Seeming made between 1984 and 1987.
looks a lot older tho - Klusion tuners etc and some of the frets are well worn.

How much you reckon it would be to re-fret?

Im pretty sure its an 88/89 but the date should be stamped on the end of the neck, next time you change the strings take the neck off and check.
But I cant see why its so important, its not like it has any vintage value.
If its a nice guitar just appreciate it for that.
