Default Gigs in Captain toms

I've seen pictures and videos of bands playing gigs in Captain Toms' practice rooms, was wondering what the rules are to these and stuff, anyone ever organised or been to one? Seems like a great way just to have an awesome gig with friends and a bit of a party.

I would suggest just calling Captain Tom himself or going round and asking about it. I've never put one on but have discussed it with Tom. General rule seems to be that so long as the place is treated with respect, he'd be willing to have you.

Agree that it would be a pretty cool place to host a gig. Some of the photos of gigs look rather cool and good fun!

Tom is up for doing it, though not too often (only really one every few months). Obviously he's more willingh to do it if the person organising the gig is a friend, or at least has known Tom for a while. He'd also rather it was treated more like a private party rather than a sort of club or anything. Obviously the place needs to be treated with total respect.

Since Drakes closed, I've never ahd more fun at an Aberdeen gig than in Capt Toms.

That's exactly what I was trying to say.

If you don't actually know Tom I can't imagine him entertaining this sort of idea. He was up for me putting on a gig or two now and again as we've been practising there for 3-4 years and know him fairly well, and our singer who was in other bands before has known him for longer.

If you're "new" to him I don't think he'd go for it. If it was something you fancied doing, get in tow with someone who does know Tom and that Tom will trust if you know what I mean?

I've been practising there for quite a long time now, since my first band, so bout 3-4 years? he knows me enough to say hi on the street and have a chat once and a while, so don't know, i would just like to have a cool we party with friends there more than an actually gig, get some photos and a live video or two just so we can advertise ourselves i guess, more than anything else it just seems like a hell of a good time! lots of people in a little room with loud music and lots of jumping around. ace.
But i'll definitely just talk to him about it next time i'm in and see what he thinks.

He loves begonias. I think if you present him with some next time you pratice he'd be more in favour of allowing you to put on a gig.
