What was everyone's highlights this year? Unfortunately I was ill and missed Candi Staton but heard she was amazing.

I was most impressed with Dirty Projectors last night although Human Bell on Friday were really good too.

Wish I could have made it down for Sebadoh, Mogwai and the Triptych party in Glasgow but alas money and lack of sleep all week meant it was not to be.

I didn't make it to anything this year. Apart from James Blackshaw and Dirty Projectors last night (shame i missed it), there was absolutely nothing exciting on at all. As i said earlier in the thread, it's about time it finished. It's become really boring/repetitive, for me anyway.

From what I gather, you compile your own list of 40-or-so bands you'd like to see, in Aberdeen, Edinburgh or Glasgow (I might have made that up, but apparently you get to pick a venue/place too?) and they'll take everyone's lists and compile a top 40 and that top 40 will be turned into gigs.

...or something like that anyway.

Hey...thanks for that, Sam!!! Which Forum was it?

I enjoyed Family Elan & James Blackshaw at the Ivy on Sunday afternoon best, I think.

Candi Staton and her band were ace, the drummer looked like Forest Gump, the keyboardist looked like Phil Cool but turned out to be Mick Talbot fae The Style Council, and thon backing singer phwoarrrr, great horn section tae, fnur, I even had a wee dance wi Candi and she lovingly sang to me whilst holding my hand, after that I bought some pegs from a Gippo in room 2, and was horrified to see that some Americans had 3 guitars but nae bass, och me, that jist winna dae, I celebrated by going to Drummonds and speaking drunken shite to the ska posse .

Got it off the The Tennents Mutal forum Alan. On the topic of Tennents Mutual, i've been keeping an eye on the forum. It's full of people going on about how the money should be spent on getting either Muse of Kasabian to Scotland. I can't believe they have scrapped Triptych for that, absolute joke.

That was my worry...that a Festival 'for the people/by the people' would end up as a lowest common denominator thing

I really wanted to see Michael Hurley this time, but couldn't make it.....I doubt if he'd be asked to play the Mutual one.
