Default Eleanor Rigby

Does anyone happen to know if their exists and edit of this song with a proper introduction rather than going straight into the lyrics?

It would be rather helpful if you do.

There's an instrumental version on Anthology two, just the same as the original Revolver version minus the vocals.

Why, out of interest, do you want an alternate version?

I can't stand the Beatles really, but Eleanor Rigby is one of a few songs of theirs that i actually like

Although I don't have enough of a collection to comment Eleanor Rigby is my favourite Beatles song.

I could put together a custom edit to suit your needs, so long as you dont tell EMI!

The version on Revolver has a "proper" introduction. Y'know, the one that McCartney made the introduction.

Maybe a bad choice of words you used, but you really can't improve on perfection, even if the song doesn't have an instrumental opening.

Like MKII says, Anthology 2 - just the strings.

Godhead do a cover with a musical passage before the singing begins. Great cover version, but not a patch on the original.

Trivia:

Its the only Beatles song upon which none of the Beatles play any instuments! (I think)

i'm trying to put something together for a showcase, i've got the white label fischerspooner edit and I need to mix it into something else at the beginning, but there just isn't enough at the beginning.

i shall track down the anthology instrumental, i think my flatmate might have it. that could work.

Exactly. I was listening to the Hard Days Night and Help albums today, and they are just brilliant. I think it's hard to argue against them being the greatest band ever. They may not be everyone's favourite band (my favourite is Dire Straits), but they are undoubtedly the best.

(Sits back and waits for people who have never listened to a Beatles album to try to argue that Metallica are the best band ever.)
