apparently any song which has the word england in it is not to be played on radio 1 during the world cup so as not to upset the other nations of the UK! good thing or bad thing? i dont mind cos a) i rarely listen to radio 1 except for specialist shows and b) most footy songs with the noteable exception of world in motion are terrible anyway!

It's a stupid reason, there's no reason why they shouldn't play England football songs as long as they're playing ones from the other nations (note - I have no idea if any other UK nations are in the World Cup, and I don't really care either).
In my opinion they shouldn't play football songs because they're shit. Except maybe for Three Lions which I still think of as the offical England team song. But yeah, it can't be a bad thing if Radio 1 listeners aren't being bombarded with the Crazy Frog effort and so on.

It's all a load of rubbish...media manipulation of a non story. Radio 1 have had someone on Radio 5 stating it's bullshit and no such ruling was made. It's actaully about songs making the A playlist, not about banning any song with Ingerlund in it. The fact that 500 cash in songs have been released for the Ingerlund 2006 campaign with 99.9% of them being unfit for human ears.

It's the media overhype that causes alot of this pro england crap. There is no doubt it winds people up and creates hatred. Banning this shit is a good idea, the world cup aint even started and i'm sick of this england shit allready. Hopefully they will get put out early so to stop these people from going way over the top as they always do.

Anyway I just pride my self on being part of the nation that brought the beautiful game to the world. No matter what the propaganda states, there's nothing like a bit of factual evidence...
