The 'worse' the band, the more publicity given.

...seems to be the order of the day about here.

I like what I've heard but I suppose all the coverage has got annoying. But i think it's maybe a bit unfair to write it all off as more NME hype. They've achieved significantly more success than the others which does at least to some extent validate the coverage they are recieving.

Y'know constantly hearing folk on the radio and in person speaking about them .... i am still yet to hear one of their songs.

tell you what is getting on my tits is the bloosy fucking Hard Fi song ..... *puts on spouncy southern fairy accent* looking for a cash machine.

my word never has suicide sounded so sweet.

I mean i come on today i swear the same playlist was repeated about 19 times on Northsound and Radio one.

I so wanted to hate them. I don't like the name. And when the NME listed the singer as the No.1 cool person of all time or whatever that almost made me weep. At least it broke my habit of buying that crappy mag every week and failing to understand why. But then I kept hearing 'Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor' and it started to grow on me. Then a guy at work handed me a disc with the stuff off the net on it and I found that I actually enjoyed most of it so I bought the album. Nowhere near being the greatest album ever or whatever else it's been proclaimed, but it is a decent set of nice catchy tunes with pretty good lyrics, especially considering the guy is only 19. But personally I think one album will be enough. The 13 tracks on this album I found to be wearing in sound and subject matter by the end and I think the novelty will have worn off by another album.

I went down to the Ticket-scotland shop about 6 yesterday to get rapturefest tickets. Little did I know the Artic Monkeys went on sale at six too so there was a queue of about 250-300, I think the first 35 were the only ones to get tickets. The neds were going mental at the ticket folk, ha ha unlucky.

there not that nice, yeah they dont like the hype n that but when we met them they werent interested n only seemed to talk to the girls, fair enough but it was people like us who got them to where they are now and they should appreciate that. There album is really really good tho, when i got the demos ages ago that was all i listened to.

Yeh that had the same effect on me. I opened it up, flicked to number one, closed the magazine...game over. It was at the point where I was just reading it out of a cringeworthy fascination at what garbage they'd be spouting that week: Topman sponsored student guides, unreleased albums proclaimed better than Bob Dylan's entire back catalogue, full page articles about how brilliant MySpace is...

Thankfully I have not been buying NME since the mid-90s.

I like them.

But Ill probably go off them simply because Im shallow and I find all this hype boring. Although if theres a larger more boring anti hype than actual real hype I may stay on the side of the hype. The anti anti-hype hype.
