Default Question: Old School party songs

Could anybody offer their tuppence worth on whether people would be interested in listening to a DJ mixing older (ie late 70s and 80s) party pop/disco tracks...i'm talking the likes of The Human League, Cyndi Lauper, Herman Kelly, Micheal Jackson etc. with samples/breakbeats to keep things interesting. Here's a snippet of the kind of idea, emulated on my PC.

I'm seriously considering investing in a half decent set of decks so that I can take this idea to stages/parties...would anyone want to hear it in between bands at gigs etc?

Cheers

Club Tropicana always seems to be busy so I'd guess there is a market for it.

Not my cup of tea however.

Charlies and Jumpin' Jaks would no doubt be interested.

There's always a market for wedding DJs as well. If you've got decks and transport it can be very lucrative.

i think i gave the wrong impression with my post

i don't just intend to play the songs back to back, i'd be doing live mixing with breakbeats, samples etc. kinda like the styles of 2manyDJs or DJ Yoda, but with a bit more focus and not just straight up 'mash ups'. the focus of the material though, would be the likes of the artists mentioned in the first post.

the kind of thing that wouldn't be popular at weddings etc

I just wondered if most people on here (ie tend to be into 'rock' music) are also happy to listen to music orientated around some of the most celebrated pop songs ever made, or if they are too snobby/have another good reason not to like 'em

I'm down for listening to shiz like this, places like snafu, or even one of the student unions would probably be good to try and wriggle in a slot there. I'm guessing it would be easier to get a night and would be a pretty good way to guage the interest.

"tainted love" soft cell
"I like driving in my car" madness

Mash-ups are cool, I'd be down for some of that shit.
