They have fucked up badly on the release dates of Dream Theaters albums. Octavarium released in 1994?

I'm with Ravensby on this, the genre appears anything but "progressive".

www.progarchives.com - There are many more prog bands! That survey was based on ratings off the Prog Archives website, and some of the albums are so little known that they don't even have ratings, so they had no chance of getting in. Plus, I wouldn't trust any statistics off that site because loads of people on it hate ELP for no good reason - why else would their highest position in the chart be 39? And as Descartes would have said, if we cannot trust progarchives about ELP, then we cannot trust them about anything at all. Except having a pretty comprehensive prog band list.

Yeah, I think Steve Howe's solo in Wurm, Starship Trooper is my favourite musical moment... ever.

There's a top 500 too.

Can - Tago Mago only got to 219. And as far as I can see, Time and a Word by Yes didn't get in at all. It may not be the proggest thing ever but they put Pink Floyd's Piper in and neither is that! Grr...

Yes "Fragile" should be on the list. Also, no mention of "Ghost"?

to be honest it seems there are only really the "mainstream" prog bands making the list. As Bodast pointed out, prog archives shows there is a lot more prog has to offer than just the artists on that list.

There are thousands of albums that could have appeared in that list!

It was to begin with, but it accumulated lots of cliches just like any other genre, a lot of which a band you like use on their albums.
