Thinking about a few other omissions,
Queen 2 - Queen - were very prog in the early days
4 - Led Zeppelin - I challenge anyone to say 'Stairway' isnt prog :p

from what i have heard i would have said the "the yes album" was the best...yes album. i dont agree with ghost reveries being the top opeth album, its a great record but nothing on blackwater park or still life. im glad to see in absentia by porcupine tree in there its a great album

I've tried to like In Absentia, I really have, I have preferred what I've heard of Deadwing though. Porcupine Tree are, with Marillion the UK's biggest prog bands but I just cant get into them, Steve Wilson has a terrible vocal to my ears, but the band do sound better with Wes on guitar, I saw them at the Lemon Tree in about 97 and live they still did nothing for me. They are great musicians tho, and to me Barbieri defined the PT sound as much as Wilson.

Cheers

i can indeed. try "trains" or "deadwing" if you want to hear the newer stuff
or "the sky moves sideways phase 1" or "stars die" if you want to hear somthing older

(the newer stuff is after they met opeth )

enjoy

haha yeah i know of your "mild dislike" for steve wilson, as a person i myself would hate him (infact i cant stand him) but his music is simply genius in my view. its great to get a decent prog thread going for once!

Well my dislike of him is tempered by the fact Barbieri and Wes are both very cool guys

Tho if you want to hear the only good thing he ever did with FishMarillion imo, check out the new Fish best of: Bouillabaisse (available for 9.97 in Asda :p) , on the second disk is a 20 minute song that Wilson produced and played on called Plague of Ghosts, to my ears that is a work of genius.

Cheers

That top 100 prog metal list is the only "top 100" list I've ever remotely agreed with. It's quite good.

I'm a little surprised and more than a little sad that Aberdeen's very own Pallas dont get a mention.
When you concider how popular they are south of the border and all over the world, can anyone explain why they have never been that well loved in their home town ?

Strange....
