but check out nouvelle vague, (bossa nova cover

I agree. Check out Nouvelle Vague urgently.

I'd like to hear the Paul Anka album, but it would be better if he was just doing straight Swing songs.

Nouvelle Vague are very good but partly because the songs don't feel ironic at all. In most part they work very well indeed.
