Default Leafcutter John @ Blue Lamp

Anyone going to see Leafcutter John @ the B Lamp tomorrow night? I can take or leave jazz generally but the combination of jazz and electronica sounds quite intertesting... I assume this is the same Leaf John who records for Leaf & Planet Mu records?

Dave

e.00pm Blue Lamp £10 (£8 conc) Polar Bear

Drummer Sebastian Rochford’s band Polar Bear is probably the hottest jazz group in London at the moment, winners of this year’s BBC Jazz Awards for new talent, and topping polls for Best Record of 2004. Rochford is from Aberdeen, but his band has never played his home town before. Pete Wareham and Ingrid Laubrock (saxophones), Tom Herbert (bass) and Rochford (drums) are joined tonight by the electronics of Leafcutter John. Their music is based on big melodies, strong rhythmical structures and wide open space for improvisation. They incorporate left-field pop/rock sensibilities into a contemporary jazz framework that acknowledges the entire modern jazz tradition.
A powerful start to the Jazz Festival at the Blue Lamp.

Too many choices this week. Unfortunately I'll miss this one. Can I have a full written report by Wednesday evening?
