Default Back to the 80's night

As often happens when you're up at 10 to 5 in the morning chatting on MSN, we were talking about the idea of possibly doing a charity night for the Band Aid Trust, and hit on the idea of a Back to the 80's night.

The plan is that we get loads of local bands to agree to come on and do maybe 2 or 3 cover songs from the 80's, in full outifits of course, start at 7 .30 and go through till late with bands coming and going, and at the end everyone coming on and singing 'Feed the World'. It would be a great night and can you imagine -

Radio Lucifer doing Culture Club...
Spike Pile Driver doing Tiffany...
MMW doing Ultravox...

It could be a real laugh and a fun night for a great cause... but would anyone be up for it ? All Bands, all genres's doing songs you liked and interpreting them in your own way or trying to do them like they were originally done...

Anyway, in theory would anyone be up for this ?

Cheers

Stuart

That sounds like a brilliant idea. Themed band nights are always fun. The popularity of Elvisness at the Lemon Tree every year is proof that it can work. It's a good way for bands to try and reach out beyond their established fanbase by interpreting songs that are more familiar to the casual listener.

MMW could probably be cajoled into playing Eurythmics...I know at least one member of that band has a soft spot for them!

"There Must Be An Angel Playing With My Heart"...that's a MMW song title if ever I saw one.

That would be an ace idea.
Punktastic recently did a charity gig where they got bands doing covers of a certain other band each.
Hope this idea becomes something

that's a great idea. maybe you could combine it with another Spinal Pap gig since they're as 80s as you get really.

If it was a 'Back To The 80's Matchbox B-Line Disaster' night then I'd be REALLY excited

Project Van-Halen could cover Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love. I know Hines loves Van Halen and wearing tight clothing..

It's looking like this will happen albeit in a different guise slightly, more details next week.

Cheers
