I think The Smiths were more emo-core metal (is that the right one?), with titles like 'Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now', 'Last Night I Dreamt that Somebody Loved Me', 'I Know it's Over', 'Unlovable', 'That Joke isn't Funny Anymore'.

Indeed they might be described that way. That's why there was recently an emo tribute album to the smiths and morrissey.

Mozza would be charmed, I'm sure.. The only thing about The Smiths though is they didn't look very hard..
