RADIO LUCIFER will return to the stage for only the second to support NEIL LEYTON's new project over the course of a few dates around Scotland, we crash into Aberdeen on Thursday 10th June, at the Moorings Bar,.
Neil Leyton's new band includes Rich Jones, ex-Black Halos; and until very recently the guitar player in agit-punks AMEN; Natasha Moledina, the bass player from the PIXIES-esque, warped-pop geniuses LITTLE HELL; and (probably) Rich Battersby, formerly of THE WILDHEARTS and GRAND THEFT AUDIO, amongst others, on drums. The band are currently in the studio (today infact) putting the finishing touches to their debut release, produced by GINGER WILDHEART. Some may have caught Neil on his last visit to Aberdeen, playing to rammed Drummonds and laying done the rock in his patented Violent Femmes/David Bowie/Jeff Buckley style. Neil is an immensely talented man, as these MP3s prove: http://www.fadingwaysmusic.com/neilLeyton.html Joining ourselves and Neil are DEADENSTEREO, Edinburgh's greatest rock racket with a number of fine recordings under their collective belt (including appearances on European distributed compilations), in their own words "deadenstereo may not have trendy haircuts and don't wear shirts and ties on stage (jeans and no t-shirts are more likely!). Nor do they quote Fugazi or Eric's Trip as influences, and they don't have members of any other famous indie bands in our ranks. But then, the music, reviews, and gigs speak for themselves." Indeed it does! Stuff to see and hear here: http://www.deadenstereo.co.uk/ Finally, completing this awesome bil are weegie rock n'roll outlaws THE CHERRYKICKS. ‘This is Rock’n’Roll at its rawest and most enjoyable!!’ say Metal Hammer, and who are we to disagree? Formed in late 1999, the CherryKicks were drawn together by a common love of AC/DC and loud guitars combined with a burning desire to create a life-affirming rock’n’roll noise driven by soaring melodies, killer hooks and thunderous riffs…the CherryKicks initially aimed to fuse the melodies and dynamics of The Wildhearts, the explosive rock’n’riot of bands like The Almighty and the Ramones, with the sonic attitude of early-Guns’n’Roses. In addition to having extensively toured the UK(sharing stages nation-wide with such established names as The Wildhearts, Electric Frankenstein, Nerve, Easyworld, Violent Delight, 4ft Fingers, Tuuli, Goldblade, Candyheads, B*Movie Heroes, Plan-A and The Relatives) the CherryKicks have received Radio 1 airplay, been singled out for live sessions on BBC Radio Scotland, featured on three compilation albums (released nation wide) and appeared on a Canadian TV series soundtrack. In February 2003 the CherryKicks entered the studio with Chris Gordon (Baby Chaos, Deckard, Regency Buck) to record their debut single for SixFeetDeep Records. The resulting 4-track ‘Radio Tokyo’ perfectly showcases the bands ability to write explosive-yet-melodic punk rock anthems (‘Radio Tokyo’ and live favourite ‘Living American’), full-throttle sing-alongs (‘Hey Hey Hey’) as well as demonstrating a slightly different approach to the CherryKicks sound (the raging ‘Shiny Little Gun’). Stuff here: http://www.fivemileshigh.net/html/bands/cherrykicks.htm So, that's The Moorings on 10th June, 7pm, £4 entry, good times garuanteed. Last edited by Afro Droid; 29-05-2004 at 16:48. |
