mogwai aren't local as far as i know. well they weren't the last time i checked anyway. i'm looking for a local band for local people, i'll have no shouting here...

Sorry... Im actually completely lost... You were looking for bands who 'did' particular stuff, and we gave you a possible band within that mandate... What have beards and so on got to do with it?

Unfortunately none of Bench have any beards, although our drummer sometimes has a bit of one and I forget to shave quite often. We are more influenced (well at least I am) by bands such as Explosions in the Sky and Godspeed as apposed to sounding like them, although there are a few bits in some of our songs that are reminiscent of those bands. We may write some stuff like that in the near future though.
