Taking Back Sunday are to Sunny Day Real Estate what Busted are to The Clash (sorry, TBS fans, "Cute without the 'e'" is catchy, but those guys strike me as being of dubious integrity), it's not really fare to write off some awsome bands because of some dubious modern ones.

As for Art Punk, I've heard the Icarus Line be labelled that, but I'm really not sure. I opened this thread to learn something, but instead I died a little inside and had to write this post through a mist of salty tears.

Well ASH got PUNX tattooed off his knuckles a long time ago. I wouldn't even call Ash even art punk, more just art. How can someone be in the RAF and get mad when people cheat the govenment, and think war is the only answer call themself punk in any kind of way?

On a slightly related vein.. what's the difference between art PUNK and art ROCK? I was thinking art punk might have been something along the lines of The Clash, whereas art rock would be more Interpol-stylee music. Ach. It's just a label. I don't think Ash is emo anyway.

Art Punk = a band called Wire (who do loads of tracks originally done by Elastica, Blur et al)
