For some reason they showed the next episode right after on Entertainment Extra on Freeview.

Watched both episodes and was pleasantly surprised. I was a bit concerned when I saw the promo pics and heard it was Shearsmith and Pemberton going it alone (it's well known that Gatiss and Dyson reel those two in as they can get carried away with how "grotesque" a character is, rather than how durable they are). Glad to see it surpassing all expectations though!

Sadly, there are only 6 episodes so far...

I don't know. It's always been tradition, as far as I recall, for BBC comedy series to run for 6 half hour episodes. Maybe it's something to do with advertising, like they don''t have time to figure out the demographic of the average viewer in a short run.

At least we get the full half hour though!
