Default Last film you watched?

Doesn't have to be new, just tell us the last film you watched and what you thought of it.

Last night I watched "Girl With A Pearl Earring". I knew nothing about the movie, knew nothing about the painting (in fact I didn't even know it was a real painting until it tells you at the end) and I really only bought it because it's got Scarlett Johansen in it. And would you nae?

Anyway, despite some of the dialogue being pretty old fashioned and occasionally difficult to follow it was a pretty enjoyable movie. It built up a lot of chemistry between the dowdy but beautiful maid (Johansen) and the great painter (and master of the house) Vermeer (played by Colin Firth) without actually showing anything happen between them apart from the most subtle of things. It's visually stunning, set in the wintertime in Holland in the 1600s, and though the story moves a little slowly it was still one of those movies that you can't take your eyes off. Really enjoyed it. thumbs up

Grizzly Man, documentary film by Werner Herzog.

Excellent film with great footage of him living in the wild with bears. interesting watching how self obsessed he became as the only one who could do this and how only he could protect the bears. he also comes accross as more than a little mad...

Well worth a watch.

Michael Clayton. Thought it was pretty good. Didn't think Tilda Swinton's performance was particularly notable, but there you go.

watched elizabeth - the golden age this afternoon and felt it was adequate - not as good as the first one by a long shot.

My Left Foot - Daniel Day-Lewis playing a cerebral palsy sufferer. Good mostly, but some cheesy parts / Irish cliches.

Also watched The Elephant Man, which is really similar to it.

Nope, can't say I would, the beanpole munter. You'd raft anything.

Anyway, the last film (not a movie, a film) I watched was "The Green Mile". Taped it off the telly, heavy going at 3 and a half hours, or so I thought it would be. Watched it all in one sitting and found it absorbing stuff. A great film.

The scene where the guy is chasing the mouse around with a rubbish bin above his head is one of the funniest things I've seen in a long time.

Invisible aliens in a tiny flying saucer come to Earth looking for heroin. They land on top of a New York apartment inhabited by a drug dealer and her female, androgynous, bisexual nymphomaniac lover, a fashion model. The aliens soon find the human pheromones created in the brain during orgasm preferable to heroin, and the model's casual sex partners begin to disappear. This increasingly bizarre scenario is observed by a lonely woman in the building across the street, a German scientist who is following the aliens, and an equally androgynous, drug-addicted male model. (Both models are played by Anne Carlisle, in a dual role.) Darkly funny and thoroughly weird.

That is brilliant, the bit where the guy gets electrocuted without the water sponge is truly awful to watch - as a lover of horror movies I find that more difficult to watch than anything the horrors/slashers offer up.

PS stop dissing my girl.

It wasn't THAT bad.... good fast paced action, and some brilliant camera work, if you switch your brain off at the door it's alright. My only problem with it was that the guy had this amazing skill and used it purely to rob banks and shag hot girls - he was supposed to be the hero of the piece and I just thought he was a wanker.
