I had to squeeze past Tilda to get into my local shop for a tin of cat food a few years ago (she was filming a bit of 'Your cheatin' heart' in Broomhill Road). I didn't ask for her autograph, and she didn't ask for mine, so honours were even The last film I watched was 'Withnail and I' on Film 4 the other night. It always amuses me........but then, I'm easily amused. Last film in the pictures was 'No country for old men'.......enjoyed it a lot. | |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | i recently watched "in a mans world" a low budget release filmed in Aberdeen. short description "A true to life account of 'survival' on the streets of gang land Scotland. Based around the emotional tale of four street wise youngsters in search of the perfect score to earn them their golden passport towards a brighter future. A gritty portrayal of hope, desperation and betrayal charting the progress of these youngsters as they embark on their journey into the unforgiving heart of the Celtic Underworld. As time goes by they soon discover that life in this business is not as glamorous as it seems as they continue to spiral deeper and deeper into a world of ruthless gangsters and criminal overlords. Written by Lee Hutcheon" and someones comment from imdb "In a Man's World impressed me for a number of reasons. Lee took kids who had never acted before and gave this film the authenticity it needed. He also represented a city never before used in a feature film: Aberdeen. Who knew it could be so beautiful? But what's most impressive is that he took a script and turned it into a feature film with no budget. OK, there are some rough edges but we're not talking a megabucks production here! I've seen this film with a talk from the director afterwards and it just proves to me that if you want to make a movie, then don't let anything get in your way. You don't need industry validation to really make something worthwhile. I believe it won a newcomer award at the New York Film Festival also. So give it watch" |

![]() ![]() | I watched Casino at the weekend, quickly followed by Night Watch. Casino, despite being Scorseses Goodfellas part 2, is brilliant, but night watch is ok at best in my oppinion. I love foreign films but it wasn't all that great to be honest. Though the way it ended means i'm going to have to watch day watch now aswell. |
