Attention! This Saturday in the Moorings - 17th June 2006

we have a treat for you this weekend in the moorings, oh yes

as i'm sure you'll have noticed elsewhere by now, there are four acts playing from around 8.30pm, and although it'll cost you a fiver to get in (i anticipate the complaints in advance) we guarantee you this gig'll be fucking top quality. aye, like 'proper' good, min.

first onstage we have some special guests that we guarantee you haven't seen in eons, if indeed EVER before, but that you'll almost certainly probably love.

after that warm up, we'll be introducing The Upstarts, who'll be playing some rather tasty guitar pop-ska-punk (or something) for you. apparently, they kick ass live, so we're looking forward to this one.

next up, we give you London's The King Blues. they have a ukulele player! what the fuck else do you want to know? they have a ukulele player! ace. they mix soulful ska with punk rock attitude, and come highly recommended.

finally, raise your glasses in celebration of poet, raconteur and musician Babar Luck. Formerly of King Prawn, Babar now patrols the stage armed only with a battered acoustic and a fistful of coffee beans. pop, folk, world, punk... you name it, Babar plays it in his own unique style. some call him genius.

i think you'll agree, that's a line-up for even the most hardened musical cynic.
and even if you've never been to the moorings in your life, we know you'll make the effort this saturday

for links and more info, check out the 'fudge' forum

Yeah a fiver is a bargain for such quality out of town acts.
I paid over £20 to see Toots and the Maytals and it was a bit cabaret ish.
For £20 at The Moorings you get in, and get a choice of the weirdest drinks on the planet, get drunk as hell, and still have change left after the taxi home, although there is a risk you will be subjected to seeing the nutsack of Flash.
And they don't keep you standing outside in the rain after supposed doors open times.
Mon the Fudge at The Moorings on Saturday, it will be magnificent.

Here are some crowd shots. The turnout was a decent enough with around 70 paying punters plus at least another 35 that *COUGH* arrived early...

Flash you silly billy, some of the most famous distorted sounds in rock history have been achieved with solid state amps and pedals. Anyway, master volume amps also create fake distortion in a way.

Hah - Those are probably the sounds I don't like

It's just my opinion, but have yet to hear good distortion emulation. But have been forced to endure loads and loads and loads and loads and loads of crap guitar pedals.

The beauty of real distortion is that it not only sounds great, it also feels great. A bit like real sex vs phone sex.

Now I'll accept that there might be some people in this world that can get a decent sound out of a solid state device*, but I have yet to encounter such a person on a Saturday in The Moorings. And even if there is the odd exception, it would be worth sacrificing those few to get rid of all the shite.

So I rest my case.

*with the obvious exception of anything made by Behringer

Do you like the guitar sounds on Led Zeppelin II?

What is real distortion?

I would pay good money for a fake distortion unit just to see you suck off your dog in return for me not using it.
I believe that your figures were mixed up with the actual amount of punters that paid - the majority coming in had some excuse - like - I'm in the band, I am Lauras pal, it is my birthday, it is my pals birthday, I'm a regular and I just popped out for a kebab, I'm nae paying - with a dangerous glare, etc etc , I think a turnstile needs to be installed .
