MAJOR MATT MASON USA

Major Matt Mason USA has been making music since the late 80's. In the early 90's he moved to New York City where he runs Olive Juice Music: an independent record label/recording studio/online distribution store. He plays in the bands Schwervon! and Kansas State Flower as well as his solo project Major Matt Mason USA.

Part of the now infamous East Village DIY Antifolk Community whose unorthodox world of misfit songwriters and lofi amateurs provided Matt with a chance to develop his voice and vent about subjects like the ever changing landscape of New York and the rapid deterioration of the relationship he just moved half way across the country for. His influences range from Bob Dylan to Sonic Youth and so far he’s recorded 5 Major Matt albums . The DIY spirit is a big part of Matt's art and lifestyle as he continues to carve out a niche for truly modern American Folk music.

FRANCIS MACDONALD

Francis Macdonald has recorded 2 albums under the project name Nice Man and Nice Man & The Bad Boys. He runs Shoeshine Records / Spit & Polish in Glasgow and drums with Teenage Fanclub.

Other artists he has worked with include: BMX Bandits, Kim Fowley, Robert Forster, Dan Penn, Alex Chilton, John Herald, Chip Taylor, Ben Vaughn, Laura Cantrell, Kate Rusby, Camera Obscura, Belle & Sebastian, Looper, Future Pilot AKA, The Hermit Crabs, The Pastels, Radio Sweethearts, Michael Shelley, Cheeky Monkey, Frank Blake, Astro Chimp. Francis has produced a (currently unreleased) Jerry Lee Lewis album. He provided the music for the British comedy feature film Zemanovaload starring Ed Byrne. His music has also been used in MTV's Real World, Fashion TV, Queer Eye For the Straight Guy, Sky News, The Mark Thomas Comedy Product, Emilio Estevez's 'smash hit' Late Last Night and a mobile phone ad in South Korea.

MATRICARIANS

Consisting of duo Alan ‘Kitchen Cynic’ Davidson and Susan Matthew, Matricarians create improvised musical pieces to which they later add traditional lyrics, from the folksongs of North East Scotland. This was supposed to be their live debut having just finished the first album, but they’ve only gone and booked something else beforehand, the buggers!

We feel ashamed!

The 'other' one will be more of a freak-out one...this one will be a bitty more tuneful

Our set will be as a 2 piece, so a tad less mental than the first one.....but hopefully still enjoyable/dark/sensual (!). If we're ever booked again it'll be the 4 piece, because we have plans to wreck some more instruments on stage
