TIGERFEST / DROWNED IN SOUND / 15th may - 13th note
http://drownedinsound.com/articles/3157909 TIGERFEST LINE UP ANNOUNCED Those ever-industrious chaps at Baby-Tiger, Is This Music? and Carnegie Hall have announced the May-time line-up for TigerFest '08. Focused around headline shows by Twilight Sad (pictured), Idlewild, Norman Blake and Paul Haig at Dunfermline's Carnegie Hall, this cracking soiree of sweet songsmithery is accentuated by a number of 'satellite' gigs hosted in Aberdeen, Glasgow and Edinburgh that contain the likes of Ulrich Schnauss, Caribou and the mighty A Hawk And A Hacksaw. Says Tigerfest co-organiser Stuart McHugh: "This year many of the big acts are Scottish which reflects how strong music in Scotland is at the moment. We're mixing up classic Scottish alternative acts with emerging acts we like and believe our audiences will also appreciate – a cross pollination of bands and audiences if you like." He continues: "[Tigerfest] still retains its 'indie' roots, partly because the budget is rather far off T in the Park levels and capacities are likewise quite small for convincing booking agents, but it's a credible event to play, as evidenced by this year's line-up. It's all very non-corporate and non-biz like – I hope it comes across that way. As our marketing guy says: 'our mission statement is... not to have one'." Tigerfest '08 runs from 2 – 30 May. The full line-up is: Aberdeen 12 May, Tunnels- A Hawk and a Hacksaw/ Benjamin Wetherill 23 May, Tunnels - Stars of The Lid / Remember Remember / Glissand Dunfermline / Fife 2 May, Monty's - Molly Wagger, Hippo, + Joint Chiefs of Staff (DJ set) 3 May, The Greenside (Leslie, Glenrothes) - Root System, Bombskare, Big Hand 9 May, Tower House - The Manicdotes / System Arcade / Established 15 May, Carnegie Hall - Twilight Sad / Frightened Rabbit / Dirty Summer 16 May, Carnegie Hall - Teenage Fanclub's Norman Blake / The Pearlfishers' David Scott 17 May, Carnegie Hall - Idlewild / Foxface / The Scottish Enlightenment Glasgow 8 May, Stereo – ballboy/Popup/How To Swim. 15 May, 13th Note - Sonny Marvello/Das Contras/Little Kicks Edinburgh 3 May, Cabaret Voltaire - fourteenhours / The Stantons, Cabaret Voltaire 4 May, Voodoo Room - Ulrich Schnauss / Funkspiel / Keser 21 May, Cabaret Voltaire - Caribou / Born Ruffians 29 May, Cabaret Voltaire - Vetiver + support Further news on this particularly brilliant Kasabian-less festival can be found here.
