well in Aug we toddled off to London to see Field Day Festival in Victoria Park
great idea, lovely setting, however turned into shambles due to far too many people
being let in, and many many substandard performanances, sound problems etc. etc.....
(ask me & i'll tell you who, before people waste their money going to see one of them
coming to Aberdeen).

On the day three or four artists were simply fantastic. one of which were The Pictish Trail
& The Fence Collective, with the IDENTICAL line-up as playing they were
our IMP event they were simply superb entertainment, musically/rapport wise great
to see a band playing together as a band without pretension & playing some
really lovely music & having a hoot on stage............

Ok, I may as well say.

On guest percussion will be Richard Colburn from Belle & Sebastian.

ALSO THIS FRIDAY - THE PICTISH TRAIL, WITH THE FENCE COLLECTIVE, IN ABERDEEN

Foos yer doos? THE PICTISH TRAIL (um, that's me) is playing a one-off show at the Tunnels in Aberdeen - with a Fence Collective all-star band. The gig is part of a series of shows organised by Sound Scotland (www.sound-scotland.co.uk) and Interesting Music (www.myspace.com/interestingmusic). I'm looking forward to it. I'm even going to stand up whilst playing this time.

Support comes courtesy of ZIGGY CAMPBELL - front-man of patchwork-popstars FOUND. He's doing a solo turn, accompanied by all manner of electronic devices. JO FOSTER completes the bill - just piano and voice - singing her dreamy pop songs.

THE PICTISH TRAIL with THE FENCE COLLECTIVE
+ ZIGGY CAMPBELL (FOUND) + JO FOSTER
The Tunnels, Carnegies Brae, Aberdeen, AB10 1BF.
Doors 8pm, Tickets £8.

SOME PRESS FOR FOUND's NEW ALBUM - 'THIS MESS WE KEEP RESHAPING'

We've just put out a new album from a band called FOUND, entitled 'This Mess We Keep Reshaping'. Eleven tracks of bleep-hop song wizardry, that'll make you shuffle, sway and shoogle.

At the moment, it's available on limited release from AVALANCHE RECORDS in Edinburgh, ROUGH TRADE in London, and via the Fence Records webshop (www.fencerecords.com). It will be available from select stores, nationwide, from December 3rd.

Here’s what the press have been saying ...

"Theirs is an ever-evolving musical voyage gliding somewhere between The Earlies’ psychedelic pulse, Arab Strap’s woozy wonder-pop and an explosion in an Indie vinyl pressing plant. It’s a bolt-blue mash up of folk, high-wired synth stabs and Tetris snare pops." Clash

"Lead singer Ziggy Campbell’s introspective patter and crisp tone guide you through the musical undergrowth. Along the way there are frolicsome tubas (’Some Fracas of a Sissy’), serenading mandolins (’Gifted’), and a sampler versus distortion pedal catfight (’Reshaping’), showcasing the experimental terrain that now defines nu folk." Observer Music Monthly

"Brilliant... fantastic circuit-bleepy-bloppy" Huw Stephens, Radio One

"Unpredictable, noisy, melodic, daft, electronic-art-pop." The Skinny

"A grown-up, slick sonic treat, and surely... especially now that it comes with the Fence seal of approval... this could be the album that opens them up to a wider audience." The List

"This is modern psychedelia that owes little to the music of the 60s and everything to the present and future... This Mess is full of the kind of cut and paste, lo-fi treats you would associate with the likes of Super Furry Animals and FOUND have made an album which reflects both the bleak winters of Scotland and the uplifting warmth in the hearts of the people." Is This Music

You can listen to tracks from the album, as well as a recent session for Huw Stephens on Radio One, on their MySpace. The band will also be in session for Vic Galloway, on Radio One, on November 21st at midnight.
