interesting music promotions present:
VIKING MOSES + KHAR LEONG + MORGAN’S ORANGE + GEORGE THOMAS Friday 6th April 2007 Room 2 @ The Tunnels, Carnegies Brae, Aberdeen, AB10 1BF. (01224) 211121 Doors 7.30pm / First Band 8.00pm / Finish 10.30pm / Entry £5 www.thetunnels.co.uk www.myspace.com/interestingmusic VIKING MOSES Many balls-to-the-wall musicians adopt a bohemian persona to fit their music, but Viking Moses is the real deal. Living a nomadic life for nearly a decade now, Brendon Massei has released banjo and acoustic guitar albums under several names. Perpetually on tour (since 1996), he has played with Will Oldham, Cat Power, Songs: Ohia, Akron/Family and Devendra Banhart, to name a few, yet Massei’s body of work has received little commercial or critical attention. His last full-length under the Viking Moses moniker, the story-song cycle Crosses (released in 2006 on Poptones), is by far his most accomplished work, and ranks among the best of the newest crop of American anti / electro / folk recordings. Fresh from playing at Death Disco in Budapest with Alan McGee and Stuart Braithwaite, this tour will see Brendon showcase his new EP “Swollen & Small – The Songs Of Neutral Milk Hotel” released April 2nd on Fire Records. Yeah, you heard, NEUTRAL MILK HOTEL!! Next stop: Fence Records Homegame. Wonderfully out there stuff from a truly special, truly one-off solo artist. (Drowned In Sound) Check out this very cool short film www.pulsefilms.co.uk/vid/daryl/vikingepk.html And tunes and stuff www.myspace.com/vikingmoses www.vikingmoses.tk www.poptones.co.uk/index.php?/bands/C19/ www.firerecords.com KHAR LEONG Khar Leong is the solo project of Sandy Galloway, a singer and guitarist who has played with The Microphones, The Needles and Electric Tibet. Influenced by Wilco, Arthur Russell, Angelo Badelamenti and Roy Orbison. (That's all Sandy gave me - he's very modest. We think he's amazing.) www.myspace.com/kharleong MORGAN’S ORANGE Part of the Viking Moses touring band - Morgan’s Orange climbs from the throat of Ronn Benway, concentrating on the balance between monkeys & bees, fruits & vegetables and what is and can be. Turtles, transients and time all echo through the music's bitter candy shell. Morgan’s Orange is now touring the world, bringing songs from his 5 underground albums and the forthcoming release on Natrix Natrix Records. www.myspace.com/morgansorange GEORGE THOMAS Another cog in the Viking Moses machine. We have no idea what he's going to do. I did ask though. www.myspace.com/georgethomasandtheowls |

Go to this for Khar Leongs version of Sycamore Trees from Twin Peaks, wonderful! Even playing in a quiet Fopp on a Saturday pm (Scotland match), he was fab.
I like weekend IMP gigs! They are like small sancturies of of cultural bliss amid the chaos that is 'binge Britain'. Jim

My soundbites are all copyrighted but I'll let you use it if you stick my name alongside
Its about all I get from FOUND for supplying drums on a great deal of their forthcoming album, and latest single. An arrangement that happily makes me a dirty whoore
