Michael Weston King tonight at The Tunnels..
Micahel is the frontman with alt-country heroes The Good Sons and was last seen playing to a sold-out Lemon Tree as support to Chris Hillman, legendary member of The Byrds.
Following an appearance at a Townes Van Zandt tribute concert in Utrecht last year, Alex Tobin in No Depression magazine wrote:
"With self-deprecating humor and a clear, soaring voice, British songwriter Michael Weston King, former leader of The Good Sons, had the audience on his side from his first song, a sparse reading of the Carter Family’s “I Can’t Feel At Home In This World Anymore”. King’s songs dedicated to Hank Williams and Tim Hardin (“Higher Ground” and “Tim Hardin ‘65”, respectively) along with his artful coupling of his own “Lay Me Down” with Van Zandt’s “Waitin’ Round To Die” made for a truly rewarding set and one of the evening’s real high points."
For the tour in September he will be joined by the brilliant pedal steel / dobro player, Alan Cook. Fans of Neil Young, Wilco, Towns Van Zandt or americana should not miss this gig!
Support from Chris Henderson (playing for the first time with his full band).
Brave the storm, ladies and gentlemen, brave the storm.
