Default Wax - "The Residential Suite", Friday 20th May

Following the success of the launch party with turntable legend, DJ Q-Bert, Wax gets officially underway on Friday 20th May, with chief resident Dee J A La Fu (Big Dada Recordings).

Dee J A La Fu:
Has toured with the likes of Gil Scott Heron, De La Soul, Blackalicious, Roots Manuva, the Scratch Perverts and Afrika Bambatta, recorded and remixed on labels Ninja Tune and Big Dada and appeared on television alongside Kool Herc, Gza and Roots Manuva. Released the series “Radio Skool” (featuring Maseo, Mike Ladd, Juice Aleem & Infinite Livez) to worldwide critical acclaim, ending up on NYC’s Turntable Lab top 5.
Impecable scratching and mixing, AND he's from Aberdeen!

Support from Giles Walker, Kid Bell and DJ Gomes. Hosted by Mayhem.

Doors open 11pm, curfew 3am. £3 (before 12/NUS), £4 (after 12).

Wax - "The Residential Suite" @ Kef, Belmont Street, Aberdeen.

P.S. Confirmed for 17th June, Prime Cuts of the mighty Scratch Perverts!

Went to Q-Bert was a quality night, A La Fu and Q-BERT definatly the highlights of the night

Our host for the evening, Mayhem did perform a couple of his own songs, and as for collaborating with Q-Bert...how many MC's in the UK can say they had Q-Bert as their backing DJ! Q heard Mayhem rapping at the soundcheck and asked if he'd like to do something before the end of the night...Mayhem said he'd have to think about it.
Good to hear everyone had a good night, nights like these (i.e. Public Enemy, DJ Q-Bert, etc.) don't come to Aberdeen enough. I'm sorry to say we lost out on KRS-One this year too...too much money and a HUGE entourage!
Anyway, roll on the 20th...
