Martin Speake's Constellation: play the songs of Charlie Parker
Wednesday 13 April Lemon Tree

Alto saxophonist Martin
Speake has been firmly
established as one of the
leading lights of UK jazz forthe best part of a decade, as a composer, highly distinctive performer and an eclectic bandleader. To commemorate the 50th anniversary of sax icon Charlie Parker's death, Speake brings the talents
of his powerhouse quartet to bear on some of Bird's own compositions as well as standards and other material that he recorded. The setlist will include their
own readings of tunes such as Diverse,Drifting on Reed, Bird Feathers, The Hymn, Star Eyes, Visa, Tico Tico, Donna Lee, Dancing in the Dark, Chasin' the Bird, Crazeology, Milestones,
Sippin at Bells, I'm In The Mood For Love, Embraceable You, Bebop and many others.

"One of the most original
and interesting contemporary
jazz saxophonists on the
British scene."
