One half of the phenomenal Freestylers, Matt Cantor brings his very much in-demand DJ set to Aberdeen. Featuring on the newly released FABRICLIVE mix compilation alongside fellow Freestyler, Aston Harvey, the hard-working duo also released their third album, “Raw As F**K” (featuring chart single, “Push Up”) to critical acclaim in 2004.
The Freestylers first rose to prominence in 1998 with controversial single – “B-Boy Stance” (Why controversial? Ask the Gallagher brothers what they thought of MC Tenor Fly’s initial take on “Wonderwall”!), taken from ½ million selling album “We Rock Hard”.
Their sound is rooted in hip-hop but has evolved taking inspiration from dancehall to reggae, electro to soul and breakbeat to drum & bass, resulting in “a blast of sheer sonic exuberance nailed to the phattest beats and rhythms around” (Solar Penguin).
