There are now two of us (students) living away from home with minimum wage jobs. Does anyone have any tips for saving money and such like, cheap food and do's and don'ts about living on our own?

A big bag of tatties costs £1.20, and coupled with corned beef / tuna, will feed you for a week.

Have bread with all your meals. It's cheap and filling.

99p store - toiletries and odds and sods

Dont mooch off your parents until you are at complete dire straits.
Don't blow your bursary and student overdraft all on alcohol and weed.
Since your no doubt a tax dodging, soap dodging fecker I'm sure you'll do fine to feed off your friends who have full time jobs.

Last part is a wind up so don't stress.

I'm keeping my job in Morrisons but taking it to king street, so 10% discount on already cheap food Possible job in Gamestation too, got my interview on monday, so discount on games there as well
Any ideas about saving money on bills?

I was maxed out on a credit card when I was a student. Just £500, but just did not have the money to pay the bugger off, or even dent it until a couple of years after uni.

Pasta is also good cheap food. I practically lived on pasta whilst at uni.

Saving on bills? There's not really anything other than switch things off that you don't need. You could go a step further and wear loads of clothes inside to save on heating or share man heat. I never bothered with any of that cost saving though. If I was cold, the heating went on. Be careful with your mobile, get a decent calls/text package and don't go over it. Or get a pay as you go, that you only use when you can afford. I'm so old, that a mobile phone wasn't something that bothered me until a few years into uni!!

i'll pay you money if you stop talking about being a student (which as freshers week/term progresses has the potential to evolve to talking about being a wacky student)

srsly though, use your imagination ffs. buy smartprice food, shop at lidl when possible and home cook large meals that you can portion out and freeze. drink before you go out, and go out on cheap nights to cheap places.
