Anyone else experiencing problems? It's rare we get a post-less day, but today was the first time we got mail since last Thursday. Last Thursday was also the first time we got mail since the weekend before, and absolutely heaps came at once. Today, we were also expecting heaps, plus a rather important package which is a few days late, but no. Just a couple of things.

Beginning to get a bit worried. is there any way of hunting down a non-recorded delivery package, or at least complain about not getting any post? We do usually get a few things a day, so its rare to have so many consecutive days without it.

They're twats. They regularly dump my down stair's neighbour's mail through my door, even if it clearly states the floor.

The thing that pisses me off about the fecking Royal Mail is the huge collection of those shitty red elastic bands that they use to bundle mail that we have amassed from our doorstep. Our house is on a corner, and is clearly at a point where they finish or start a new batch of mail.

One day I will sit and build an elastic band ball and post it to them. Cunts.

cunts the lot of them, over the past week iv have two red slips thru my door sayin iv gotta go pick up a parcel but slip were on seperate days and both say they tried to deliver them at around ten o'clock, iv been working back shift this week and both times that red slip wasnt in my letter box when i left my house at one o'clock, me personaly i dont get it why say u tried at 10 on two seperate occasions when you clearly did not, fucking tubes

I was a postman for almost a year. I can tell you why this happens. Certain postmen (particularly the alcoholic ones who are desperate to get their shift finished before midday so they can get to the pub) can't be bothered carrying your package round for any sort of distance, so they just write out the "Sorry we missed you" card and deliver it along with the letters and leave the package at the depot or in one of their storage boxes throughout their round (those grey coloured boxes, usually on a black pole). Some of the behaviour I witnessed from colleagues when I was postman was quite sickening. Most of them would do anything to cut corners and ensure an early finish.

A number of them drink in Portals bar on the Castlegate from about midday onwards. Go cause some shit.

When I stayed in my last house which was numbered 24, I regularly received mail for someone of the same last name and house number but in a completely different street, the name of which was in no way similar to mine.

i once caught a postman pulling that "sorry you were out" card stunt, all i heard was a very quiet posting through the letterbox then some thundering down the stairs, it was 4 flights though so i had time to get to the door and shout abuse. he just ran.

Easily done, that. But regularly is poor. Was the other address within your postal round, do you know? Or would you estimate that it was?

My round had this problem - identical surname and street number and, even, street prefix (Middleton Circle and Middleton Path, if I remember correctly), but luckily for the first few weeks of my round, the customers were both very understanding. They also both tipped me that christmas because I cut the errors down.

I was a fucking great postman, even if I do say so myself.

My street and the other address were in no way similar in name, even though they probably were on the same route so I think it was more than a tad careless, especially as a repeat offence….and I mean repeat, like a lot. I still can't my head around you as a postman….no offence and all but you never struck me as the getting up horrifically early type!

Phone up your delivery office and explain the continual error - if your round has a regular postman then he'll be made aware of the error - they perhaps don't know they're doing it. It is slack as fuck, though.

Before I started, I never envisioned myself as a postman either - mainly due to the early hours. But I had just quit One Up because it was co-owned by a child monkey and I needed to pay my rent and bills; so needs must and all that. I slept so little as a postman, though. I lived in Mastrick for the most part and I still attended gigs and socialised a lot, so about three or four nights a week, I'd roll home at around 1am then pull myself out of bed around 4:30am for work. Horrible.

Good job, though. There were aspects of it that I loved, but in the end I felt I was too socially active to realistically sustain it. Brilliant job for someone a bit older and with more domestic responsibilities.
