That's an astute observation...when I were a lad (Jurassic Era), we didn't have any of that pretentious Yearbook and Prom pish - we just got kicked tae fuck oot the door.
Wonder how long it'll be before some student/pupil wanders in with a Mac 10 and goes postal over here. I'm all for adoption/absorbing elements of other cultures, but that comercially driven/illiterate/all-you-can-eat/flag-waving U.S. of bloated A shite can get itself to fuck. |

Not really, but I did always think that was a severe lack of school spirit. Most folk I knew couldn't have given less of a fuck about the place. |

This story made me realise it's 10 years since I left Banchory Academy (unless my maths is failing me which could be true because that's probably the last time I did any maths other than counting down from 501)
I think on that day I sat in the the (then) unturfed Coffee Bar listening to Metallica.......REALLY LOUD! |

Of course kids are going to want to celebrate leaving school, but I think it probably depends on the 'humour' of the teachers etc. We were only in school for a couple of hours before going to Loch Lomond for BBQs etc... We had a bouncy castle and some inflatable football thing. It's just supposed to be fun - I think teachers and senior management in schools have forgotten what it was like to leave school! |

All we did was get pissed. Also, it was the first time I'd ever been caught smoking in school, but admittedly, doing it right in front of your deputy head is going to get you caught really. I did ask if she'd like to suspend me, but she declined. |

I don't recall us doing anything too wild as the teachers had the place locked down when they caught wind of the 6th years planning to have a BBQ in the concrete area (outdoors) outside the common room. My bunch all just got wankered at someone's house to my knowledge.
There was a trashing on our year head's office though… and we put photos of our rector's face onto the urinals. There was something about a pregnant sheep being on the grounds too. I missed all this as my parents were phoned up and I was barred from coming in. I never found out exactly why I was singled out but alas I was. In my fond time at Ellon I witnessed: -Clingfilm over the bogs -Glue on banisters -A live animal being let loose. -Modified images on unattractive members of staff half morphed into offensive animals. -General drunkenness -Flour… always a lot of eggs and flour -Banners being hung from the roof -A teacher with a body odour issue being given deodorant and then understandably becoming upset -A senior member of staff's office being turned into a "foot and mouth" zone. This is the same one that got her office trashed by persons in my year and who barred me from coming in. Not a popular lady on the whole. -The school being put up for sale as a large residential property with a swimming pool and parking facilities on e-bay -About 100 gnomes and dozens of 'for sale' signs from Ellon homes being displayed in the grassy area on front of the school. Good times. I left school almost 5 years ago now ![]() |
