Default Recommendations for headphones?

Are all headphones rubbish? I am on pair number 3 in less than a year and despite paying a little more on the last pair in the hope that they'd last a little longer I've been disappointed again.

Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced pair of in-ear headphones? I don't want anything too fancy as I only use them for my walk to work but I want some that wont send me into a rage after 3 months.

Thanks

I've been using the same pair of Sennheiser in-ear headphones for a year. They've outlived three mp3 players and they still sound great. You can pick them up in One Up for about twelve quid. They're not fancy, but they do the job and are built to last.

Christ, what are you actually doing to them and what makes have you tried already?

I agree with the Sennheiser option as recommended by Dave and would also like to throw the Koss "Spark Plugs" into the ring. £16, good bass response and very comfortable.

Song MDR EX71. I've had these for over a year and they are unbelievable. When I first bought them and plugged them in I was astounded by the sound quality. I went back and listened to albums I've had for years and I could hear bits that I'd never heard before. Amazing bass, and they completely block out any outside sound. They set me back about £40 from Macro but you could probably get them cheaper if you shop around.

In fact they're only £15 on Amazon! Wow I got ripped off.

Um, I don't think I've been doing anything that would damage them. I think I might be jinxed. I can't remember what makes I have tried already because the rage at only hearing music in one ear results in me launching them into the nearest bin.

Thanks for all the recommendations, I will look into getting some new ones tonight.

I got some nice over the ear type - not massive ear muff style - sennheiser. PX100, they fold up to fit easily in your pocket. Sound quality is geat. These were cheaper than previous pair of in ear ones I got and have lasted longer.

it's not worth spending more than 15-20 quid on in-ear headphones for use with consumer audio devices like ipods, but even a pair for a fiver should last more than 3 months, what are you doing to them?

So do I.

I've tried everything and don't think - I KNOW these are the best!!!!

They even make Ipod haters like the sound of my Pod! But these sound great on my TV and hifi as well. They can handle the bass no worries with a lovely clear treble sound.

Amazon always have them cheap if not from One - Up. And they will fit in your lugs regradless of size due to the interchangeable rubber bits.

I can't hear the wife nagging me when I've got these on
