Default Christmas Lunch

Anybody care to recommend a local pub/restaurant that serves a decent Christmas lunch? I've never gone out for a Christmas lunch before, but thought I'd give it a shot this year as an alternative to a Christmas nite out.

The Illicit Still's usually open on Christmas day, can't really go far wrong there. Most Chinese and Indian restaurants stay open on the 25th, so you should have your pick of those.

I'd imagine alot of the good ones might book up in advance though, so best phone round?

I assume you're talking about lunch on Christmas Day?

I used to work at the Atholl Hotel, it was always packed out, but yes, booked up well in advance and damn expensive, which is fair enough as you have to pay the staff double.

The Gordon Arms in Inverurie.. If it's still open, they do magic dinners.

Heard good things about Illicit Still.
I went to Prince Of Wales for a christmas meal and was satisfyingly good.

Work went to that restraunt on Crown St last year - Carriages. Was truly excellent.

Otherwise, most of the rest of them have been utter crap. Except when we have gone for a curry instead.

Not to sound like a cheapskate c*nt but the hungry horse slash tippin hatter on kingstreet (next door to lidl) does fantastic meals and there cheap.....The plate of food you get is well mental and as i say its not that expensive......I did see a crimbo menu when i was in but cant remember the exact price ...It may have been £19 per head but as i say the plates of food you get are second to none.......And the staff are very friendly and its a nice warm enviroment.....

Anywho where ever you go you best start booking it yesterday as in my experience the later you leave it the more chance of beans on toast at yours will be your crimbo meal ...... lol

Not eaten there for a very long time & not a christmas meal but I do remember that place as being merely OK. However, another time, we went to the Toby off the Parkway & that place was truly dire.

I too remember the Atholl as being rather good but again, that was a good while ago.
