Default Royal Hotel

Has anyone ever been in/stayed at the Royal Hotel in Windmill Brae? Conflicting reports on the internet claim it is the most horrific experience in hotelling history and absolutely first class. Anyone?

I think it had a full renovation a year or so ago. So it is probably OK now. Before then, it did indeed look a bit ropey.

I've never stayed, but have been for many fantastic meals in Cafe Royal - I'd recommend that place...........

The food is good but I can't honestly remember the last time I was there.

The food is very good there, if you are looking for traditional British cooking.

A hotel named Royal stuck on Windmill Brae sounds like it's best avoided to me.

I remember now! - This is one of the places that gave me pretty-extreme shit for trying to buy a soft drink at the bar once so I've never gone back-in.

Haven't eaten there for a few years, but it was good when I did. I had liver and onions, mmm.

Has to be the worst location for it with all the drunk people coming out of Liquid and Moshulu.

Only ever seen the reception area and the cellar. It didn't look too bad, but no ideas what the rooms are like.

At least it's got To-Go directly opposite for very late night munchies
