Surely it can't go through (I hope).

Why can't it go through? Other countries have democraticaly elected officials who have been in power for longer. (UK, Australia) Just because Bush is an idiot doesn't mean the ammendment shouldn't be rattified. The current term limits were added as ammendments in 1951.

It would allow CLinton to stand again, for example.

I think changing the rules about a president's time in office is a good thing. However, I think intorducing some sort of proportional representation in America would compliment this well. I can't see them going for PR though.

To be honest I couldn't care either way if they bring the amendment in.

We have a view of Bush as an idiot, but he must be doing something right before being voted into the white house for a second term, so if what he is doing is what the population (or majority of at least) of America wants, then thats fine by me if they keep him in charge. that being the point in a democracy
