right, i'm lazy as fuck but i've been asked to put together a myspace page for FeSTR for a gig we're doing in the summer and despite having a degree in computing science, i have little knowledge and even less interest in learning how to put together such a site so i'm looking for a little assistance. what i want to know is how to put on a few songs and how to make a little table with forthcoming gigs. that is all.

It should all be exceedingly simple... once you've signed up just go to 'Edit Profile' (on your home page below where you can put the main photo), on there you can add shows or manage songs, both are pretty darned easy to do, or so I've found.

did you sign up for an band account or a person account??

You should go into "Music" at the top of the menu and there is an "Artist Sign-Up" thing. You'll need to do that rather than simply sign-up to get the player and gig lusteing malarky.

If you've signed up for a personal one then try to send a message to tom and there should be a dropdown menu that lets you find the option to turn your profile from personal to a band one.
