i had a hunch the standard of postage you received was due to the value of stamps relative to the weight of the letter/parcel. i'm probably wrong, though.

Nup, it'll still be sent second class, just means that you'll have overpaid on postage.

I wonder what would happen if you mixed 1st and 2nd class stamps though..

It will go as first class. It's the added value of the stamps that count.

of course, first class means nothing these days :|

i wish someone could explain to me why it takes 4 days to deliver a parcel to london, for instance :|

it's
a
long
way
?

my instant reaction, obviously it's not true. most stuff is pretty good at being on time i find. if it's a particularly heavy item, busy period, doesn't fit through a letter box...what do you expect?

I assume this is because you only have second class stamps in your house?

A lot of second class mail actually gets delivered the next day I find.

i dont even think first or second makes a difference. as tv tanned says a lot gets sent the next day anyway

if you mix and match its normally just to get to a price. i worked for a craft company two years ago and when something weighed more than 60g's we had to write the weight down and stamp it cause 1st class only covers 60g's. but if it was going somewhere abroad you had to stick heaps of stamps on. we had a book that told you how much it cost for where is was going and the weight. and you just had to get to that cost or just over with a mix of 1s and 2nd class stamps.

was a fun job.

Post confuses me, I send things to my boyfriend in Essex all the time after 3pm and they still get there first thing the next day. But posting something across town takes two days sometimes. Weird.

*eeeeh uurrrrrr*

Wrong answer.

The value of the stamps will actually equal 40p (First class is 30p) so it will be sent first class with overpaid postage.

*ding ding ding*
