Default desktop of the future? (geeks only)

This is pretty cool. Sun have an R&D project on the go looking at the possiblities of desktop innovation. There's a video here of their 3D desktop:

That does look cool, even to a non-geek.
"The dominant company doesn't want to show you that" heheh, subtle. Are you listening, Bill???
Aw crap, maybe I am a geek...

it's been out for ages, i tried it out last year at work. it took ages to get it working, and once i did, it was a bit disappointing to say the least. many glitches to be ironed out. however that was over a year ago so hopefully it has progressed somewhat, and it is good to see some people looking for a desktop paradigm of the future.

I like his hair.
Haha. Not.

And why does Jonathan have long hair? He is not cool.
But it seems a pretty cool idea. Dunno if I'd ever benefit from it though.

It looks like a huge fuss about absolutely fuck all. I mean, Windows has shiny buttons and colourful desktops and transparency but i turn them all off because it just drains my resources. I suspect this is very processor hungry and for what, so that you can spin a window around? this may look good to nerds but the truth is it is basically useless and as far as i am concerned the trade off of performance over usefulness will be far too high.
