Pierce Brosnan has said in several recent interviews that he hates playing James Bond and is glad to be rid of the role. I don't think it'll be him.

Brosnan was rubbish anyway, Daniel Craig doesn't seem like Bond material but I can't think of anyone who is, shouldn't write him off before he's even had a shot at it I suppose.

The official line is they have been screentesting four potential Bonds, and Craig is the favourite as he is the best known - the only other one I've heard of is that bloke from ER with the Croatian name. They are announcing the new Bond on Friday morning, so not long to wait. They are going back to Fleming's stories, the next film being 'Casino Royale' (Yes, I know it's been done once with David Niven but it was more of a spoof), stripping the concept back so Bond is younger and the whole feel is darker and less gimicky. Less gadgets, more plot - 'The Bourne Supremacy' having shaken up the whole genre and all.

...A degree in film studies and this is what I end up using it for....?

San Francisco Chronicle -
"They know where to find me", Brosnan said. "Would I go back if they asked me back? Sure I’d go back. No question; it’s unfinished business, it feels that way."

On the subject of what happened after "Die Another Day", brosnan said: "They just changed their minds; they had a different take on it one day. I was invited back to do the fifth and I was very happy... And the phone just rang one day and negotiations stopped. To this day I’m not sure why.

"I was terribly upset. It was a real body blow. I thought I’d made some good inroads with the character and felt a sense of ownership after having played him four times, it was a sense of ease and confidence. I was looking forward to making it edgier and grittier — and for all of that to go down in one phone call was highly disappointing."

Oh, ok I stand corrected. I can't remember where I read it but I remember him saying that he didn't like playing James Bond as there was nothing he could bring to the role, he was given no input and that the producers were often unimpressed with his take on things.

Perhaps he said that to the San Fran Chronicle then got bitter and started slagging everyone off. Who knows? James Bond appears to be rumour central right now.

As long as the next film is good I'm not too bothered about who play's Bond. The last three have been awful.

I think Daniel Craig would be good as Bond, he was very good in Layer Cake, who gives 2 shites if his hair is blonde? Let's face it, he can't be any worse than the acting eyebrow was towards the end of his stint....
