Default Laptops

I'm looking for help on buying a laptop.

Spec includes: 1.5MHz+ processor, 512Mb RAM, 128Mb graphics, DVD-RW+/- is the basics.Other things that could be included are media card slots and tv-out.
Price range is up to £600

Can anyone recommend websites or anything to help me?

ebay.

be more concerned about RAM than CPU; my P3 1ghz dell with 512mb runs faster than my mum's 2ghz celeron with 256mb ram.

you should be able to get something really decent for 500 quid from ebay.

or you could buy something brand new, from the likes of ebuyer:

just needs a simple ram upgrade.

Thanks.I know about the RAM n stuff.I've been looking through pricerunner comparing all laptops but they all have one thing missing, whther it be only 256 RAM or only 64Mb graphics card.I was looking at ebay but I'm not sure whther I should trust them when buying a laptop.

personally i wouldn't trust buying a laptop from ebay. no matter how good the feedback is. i bought a (reasonably) expensive phone from ebay not long ago, thinking it was a bargain (it retailed for £120 in the shops and i got it for £60). the seller had 600+ possitive feedback and when i received it, the damned thing wouldn't switch on. so just be careful. i think pc world have a sale on just now

well, i bought my laptop off ebay, and it turned out fine. you may find it tricky to get a laptop with absolutely everything you want, but consider doing the memory upgrade yourself, it's remarkably simple on most laptops - you unscrew or unclip a panel on the back and simply clip in the new memory chip in the same fashion as the existing one.

to work out what memory you need for a particular laptop, go to

http://www.crucial.com/uk

when buying laptops off ebay, try to stick to the dealers that sell tens of laptops everyday. they are usually refurbishing agents for specific laptop companies like dell or ibm.
