Was just watching Newsround (I know, I know) and they read out emails from people affected by the floods. Quote from one lass from New Orleans: "I was on holiday when the hurricane hit, so I don't know what state my house will be in". Arkansas would be my guess.

i started reading "a confederacy of dunces" last week and it's weird to think that half the places in that book are probably underwater right now

That's a great book!! I read it just before I went to New Orleans a few years ago. What a place it was....I met Ernie K. Doe, Eugene Chadbourne and Irma Thomas, and danced in a bowling alley to Snooks Eaglin live!!

They're going to totally evacuate the city of the folk still essentially trapped there, and it could be months before residents can return. Eep. :/
